CRS West Calendar of Upcoming Events
Saturday, September 12, 2009—The Archdiocese of Los Angeles celebrates the vibrant and diverse ethnic communities of Los Angeles at the annual Mass and Festival of Cultures.
The festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Mass celebrated by Cardinal Roger Mahony at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, 555 W. Temple Street, downtown Los Angeles. A Festival of Cultures immediately follows across from the Cathedral at the Los Angeles County Mall—Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration, 500 W. Temple Street. The Mass includes native songs and dances performed by various ethnic communities in their traditional dress. The Festival will feature exhibits, performances, international food booths and other presentations from the diverse ethnic communities of Los Angeles.
The Catholic Church recognizes cultural diversity as an important constitutive part of our society. Faithful from throughout the archdiocese gather each year to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of Los Angeles and recognize the unique gifts each of our communities bring to our local Church.
