Global Food Crisis
The current food crisis has impacted billions of people around the world. As Catholics, we believe that the right to life for all persons, based on their identity as precious children of God, means that all people have basic rights to those things that are necessary for them to live and thrive, including the right to food.
In response to this crisis, USCCB and CRS have created two Catholic Campaign Against Global Poverty resources: "Catholic Social Teaching and Food" and "Commonly Asked Questions about the Global Food Crisis."
These resources will be helpful to you in educating parishes, community organizations and others in your diocese. A broader overview of the global food crisis is available on the CRS main website at http://crs.org/emergency/global-food-crisis.cfm.
Faith, Culture and Solidarity
Cardinal Rodriguez from the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa, Honduras spoke about Faith, Culture and Solidarity at the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Social Ministry Convocation on March 4, 2006. View his comments and feel free to pull sections for incorporation into your own presentations, especially those relating to topics on economic justice and solidarity.
