Our world faces a global food crisis and worldwide financial downturn that is impacting people in every developing country, and here in the United States. Many families in developing countries are spending 75 percent of their income on food, leaving little left over for other necessities.

During the season of Lent, Catholic Relief Services offers several ways to assist those in need.

Operation Rice Bowl invites Catholics to pray, fast, learn, and give while celebrating global solidarity.
Speaker Tours and Global Fellows bring stories of hope from around the world to audiences in the United States.
The CRS Collection provides an opportunity to give much needed donations in support of the global mission of the Church.
Food Fast is a great way for youth to get involved.

Let us use this Lenten season as an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with God through our prayers, to simplify our lives through our fasting, to learn more about what we have in common with our brothers and sisters who live far away, and to give what we can to assist those in need.

Operation Rice Bowl advertisements are available for placement in your diocesan newspaper! There are two advertisements available, one for use at the beginning of Lent to promote ORB, and one for use at the end of Lent as a "thank you" to participants. The advertisements are available in both English and Spanish language versions.
